Beyond our farthest idea of freedom, there comes a moment when unencumbered by time and place, we realize our potential. Imagination takes us to this freedom place Often before we are old enough to believe that kind of travel can be dangerous and very expensive. Later, tentatively, like placing our toes in cold water We try to reach toward those deep recesses and travel farther in than we ever could outside ourselves. Then, like children lost, becoming frightened, having a sense of how far we've gone, we quickly retrace our steps and try to hit on solid ground. And it's on that ground we try to walk our adult lives. Only in the rare quiet spaces do we long for that place which was so much easier to reach before. Only our discontent and restlessness reminds us we were there.... |
