I have had such a hard time accecpting what has been going on in my life. Right now my grandfather is deathly ill and he might not make, he is 86 years old. He has raised me since I was a very small child. My so called father was always in and out the picture and I my mom always worked so in a strange way my grandfather is like my father. So now I sit at his side to keep wathch over him it's very hard on me to see hime so ill and there is nothing I can do for him. I hope he pulls throught this one, I'm really torn at this time due to the fact that I have a major trip coming up now in a few days and then in June. But my grandfather has been at my side throught thick and throught thin so I don't know what I should do. I know if something should happen to him I could be on the next flight home. I happened on this site by sheer accident, or maybe it was by divine intervention. I am a nurses aide, and I have been praying for spiritual guidance from nearly any where, while on the net, I just happened to stumble on to this site. Some how, it just seemed that this is where I was suppose to be. I would welcome e-mails from friends who might be able to help me on my spiritual quest.

Carol, I just finished a book given to me by my sister, "Rusty's Story", and am so glad that you wrote this true account to share with anyone who would read it. I am also a nurse and it just absolutely FLABERGASTED me to know that such horrific encounters can happen to a patient. Such indecencies and tragedy. It was a very passionate book, and taught me a lot. Mainly, to listen VERY carefully to patients concerns, as I thought I had been doing, but doubt myself at times, now. Thank you for sharing this trying, difficult, rewarding time of yours and Rusty's life. I felt every emotion that exists when I read this book. Particularly anger and dismay at the past medical system. Thank God we're more advanced these days, but only with the proper diagnosis to begin with! Scary!! I work for a specialist, an Endocrinologist who, fortunately, is very compassionate, understanding and thorough and has many success stories, but my ears and heart will definitely be opened even wider. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for opening my eyes even wider.

i like to read true stories of inspiration. As an LPN i feel we need more subjects though that would reflect on LPN's. we have so many for RN's but i hardly see any for LPN. I hope to see more soon. Thank you.

This is a beautiful site. I am a Preschool teacher and child advocate for children from abusive homes and this site made me weep for them (again) I wish that all of my kids could be sitting on my lap reading the stories and seeing the beauty through out. February 27, 1998 I lost my daughter, who was 19 years old. She was struck by a car as a pedestrian and died the next day. I just happened upon this site and was blown away. Thank you for sharing your life, your meditations and your site. It is a keeper!
